Offshore Call Center Industry congratulates Internet on its 30th birthday |
Nothing else has contributed more to making the world flat as much as Internet has. The entire call center and back-office outsourcing industry emerged after internet and IT infrastructure spread across the globe.
No calls from America could have reached an offshore inbound call center in India if the Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) solution was implemented. It was this inherent affordability of a VoIP which has made it an economically viable proposition for businesses. The world shrunk owing to the internet and it became possible for someone in western hemisphere to to avail services from someone based in eastern hemisphere. The Call Center industry acknowledges that there would have been no virtual employees and no Cisco based call centers, if it was not for the internet. Therefore we congratulate Internet for successful completion of its 30 years. The internet officially began functioning on 1st January, 1983, also known as the “flag day”. The US Department of Defense switched to use of the Internet protocol suite (IPS) communications system from its earlier Arpanet network. The new method of data packet switching was adopted, which ushered the World Wide Web.
This development was however not overnight. The Arpanet network had started as early as in 1960s, when the designs by Welsh scientist Donald Davis were used as the basis for network designing. Many reputed universities like University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and the Stanford Research Institute contributed to developing the first models of workable internet which was reliable and safe. After internet was born in 1983, another British scientist Tim Berners Lee pursued his research until he was able to successfully host the system of interlinked hypertext documents. And with his efforts, finally the World Wide Web was born in 1989. And since then, there has been no looking back for humanity. Internet brought about the dot.com boom, the growth of e-commerce businesses and also the outsourcing industry. Theoffshore call center industry unanimously thanked the Internet for its huge contribution to their business. |
